Bike Education & Harmony Day

Harmony Week was great! Harmony Day is a day where we all celebrate everyone’s countries and cultures. But because we have so many kids, we celebrated over a whole week! On Monday we had an assembly and nearly everyone dressed up in their national colours or dress.

Then we had soccer matches in our grades with boys and girls games.

The 3/4s games were on Wednesday, the 19th of March. Before each match we all huddled in a circle and we had to share something about our countries. On Friday that week, it was the teachers versus students soccer match. The teachers won by 2 goals because the score was 1-3.

This term we have been doing Bike Education with our instructors and we have been enjoying it.  Some of the bike activities were where we did a slow race and we all found it t be a lot of fun. Some of us had to put our feet down, but we all eventually did it right.

The location of our Bike Ed classes was the Moreland Primary School oval. We also learnt how to ride around cones. Some of us crashed and some of us were also skidding around the corners on the track. We had a ton of fun. We learnt about how to do a bike ABC safety check which stands for air, brakes and chain. We checked the air and chain and brakes and some of us had to borrow spare bikes.

We also had to have helmets with no cracks or holes because that could mean that a damaged helmet might break or snap. But once we did that, we were free to start riding. We were happy to have our class at the oval as it was full of gum nuts that made it slippery, so riders with smooth tyres would drift constantly. We also put on our brakes at corners and some of us would have to fix up the witches cones if they were knocked over. It was heaps of fun and we all learnt how to ride safely!
